GreerWalker’s Big Event Goes Really Big — As In Global

Nov 3, 2016

The prospects for success in a global economy brought more than 350 guests representing prestigious Charlotte business interests to GreerWalker’s annual Big Event. A celebration for the firm’s clients, this year’s event was held on Wednesday, November 2, at Central Piedmont Community College’s (CPCC) Harris Conference Center.

A leading Charlotte business and accounting-based advisory firm, GreerWalker welcomed representatives from many of the region’s most influential, privately held middle-market companies along with their attorneys and bankers.

GreerWalker co-founder Kevin Walker and partner Mike McNamara welcomed guests and introduced speaker Dr. Tony Zeiss. Dr. Zeiss, who spearheaded the formation of the Greater Charlotte Region Global Vision Leaders Group and serves as its leader, spoke about his “Vision for Success in a Global Economy.”

Dr. Zeiss was the president of CPCC for 23 years until this past summer. He has also presided over the Charlotte Regional Collaborative for a Global Economy, a partnership involving 14 community colleges in the region. That group’s mission is to team with domestic and foreign-owned companies seeking middle-skills workers and growing local talent to fill those positions in the more than 200 German-based companies in the Charlotte region.

“We know of no one better suited to address Charlotte’s ongoing role in a global economy,” said Walker. “Dr. Zeiss’s expertise resonated throughout our diverse client base. His global connections and commitments make him not only an expert but a trusted resource.”

The Global Vision Leaders Group hosts a quarterly meeting of approximately 185 local business leaders to discuss and build economic development strategies. The organization has involved growing partnerships with hospitals and health care companies, along with apprenticeships that have led to European investment in the Charlotte region.
