GreerWalker Tax Experts Shed Light On Impacts Of New U.S. Tax Act
(Charlotte, N.C.) — The most significant overhaul of the U.S. tax code in more than three decades was the subject on February 21 as a group of GreerWalker tax partners spoke on various implications of the recently passed Tax Cuts and Jobs Act during a breakfast forum at the Hilton Charlotte Executive Park hotel.
The focus was on mid-sized, privately held businesses and the individual owners. John Norman, Brad Loman, David Jones and Sandi Thorman spoke about possible impacts on business, individual and estate tax planning in a variety of sectors. Norman covered C-corporations that will see their top tax rate fall from 35% to 21%; Loman addressed pass-through entities; Jones spoke on international and general business provisions; and, Thorman covered the individual and estate tax changes. Their presentations were followed by a Q&A session.
The GreerWalker experts’ comments served as a reminder that tax regulations constantly change and are increasingly complex. The speakers encouraged all attendees to review their individual situation and offered to assist with planning opportunities utilizing a customized approach.
Attendees actively participated and benefited from the wealth of knowledge exhibited by the tax experts. Norman has more than 25 years’ experience in tax and business advisory services, with a strong focus on corporate domestic as well as international tax issues. Loman has spent most of his career serving clients with complex partnership and corporate structures primarily focused in real estate, financial services, and private equity.
