GreerWalker Adds 5 New Partners
(Charlotte, N.C.) — In 1984, GreerWalker started in Charlotte with two partners, Charlie Greer and Kevin Walker, and one goal: To serve any financial need of owners and management teams at successful middle-market companies. That goal never changed, and the staff now has 17 partners in our Charlotte and Greenville, S.C., offices.
Today, we’re proud to announce we promoted five more people to partnerships as of January 1, 2020: Beth Allen, Nicole Mottershead, Jason Pritchard, Aaron Reece and R. John Sciascia.
“We deeply value the long-standing support of our clients and it is their continued belief in GreerWalker that has allowed us to grow and add strong partners with diverse expertise,” says Managing Partner John Norman. “Our new partners will help guide clients with anything from tax compliance and audits to litigation support and global business questions.”
All five are certified public accountants with at least 10 years of experience. And they’re not just good businesspeople; they’re good citizens, giving back to the communities where they live. Meet our new partners:
Beth O. Allen is the first person to rise from intern to partner in GreerWalker’s history. She did that over 16 years, since graduating from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Master of Accountancy prepared her for her current job, directing the Outsourced Accounting Solutions division. Before that, she was a senior manager in its Business Assurance Practice and team leader of its Not-For-Profit Practice. Her experience with clients ranges from professional service to not-for profits to international business to manufacturing and distribution. She currently serves as treasurer of the North Carolina Charter Educational Foundation’s Board of Directors.
Nicole Mottershead’s dedication to middle market private companies puts her right in line with the philosophy of GreerWalker, which specializes in those clients. She’s a Senior Assurance Manager who works across a variety of industries but focuses on construction, manufacturing and distribution. She helps businesses identify and minimize risk, from buy-side quality of earnings and sell-side consulting to post-acquisition services. She tailors her assurance, advisory and accounting services to fit businesses’ goals, and she has long experience in financial due diligence and transaction advisory services. She’s also on the board of directors for both Charlotte Lab School and Fashion and Compassion.
Jason Pritchard, a director in the tax practice, made partner after just two years at GreerWalker. But he has 20 years of experience evaluating and resolving federal and state audit issues, analyzing business details of proposed mergers or acquisitions, and developing and implementing strategic business technology. He specializes in identifying and implementing tax and development incentives at the federal, state and local levels: Extensive experience in multiple industries and public accounting has provided him with the background needed to deal with corporate tax issues, no matter how complex they become. His community work has included Charlotte YMCA, Room in the Inn of Davidson and Ada Jenkins Center.
Aaron Reece, a senior manager in the business assurance practice, plays a first-class game wherever GreerWalker needs him. His clients come from multiple industries: manufacturing, distribution, professional services, restaurant groups, construction and energy. His areas of expertise span an equally wide range: His assurance services include audits, reviews and compilations, and he can assist companies with best practice advice and business advisory services, including profitability analysis, internal controls and department organization. He’s currently treasurer of the Charlotte Secondary School board of directors and has served on the finance committee of the U.S. Green Building Council.
R. John Sciascia, a senior manager in GreerWalker’s tax practice and member of its global services team, has a decade of tax and accounting experience. That has prepared him to serve inbound and outbound international clients, family-owned and multinational manufacturers and distributors, private equity investments, hedge funds, family partnerships and individuals with high net worth. He understands tax-efficient structuring, transfer pricing, tax due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, complex capital structures, state and local tax planning, and business planning for family-owned or closely held firms. His non-profit work has included serving on the finance committee of Carolina Voices’ board of directors.
